Founding President's Message

Dear all members,

I wish you all progress in the New Year, good health!

Thank you for your continued support to our institute so that we can achieve our goals successfully for the last decade. Unfortunately, we are still fighting the COVID-19, therefore our institute had been affected significantly. However, we had used some different ways to organize our events such as webinar to greater bay talk, technical talks via Zoom and sharing news via WhatsApp and WeChat groups. We believed all technical talks were very useful and important to our members. Not only the talks were free of charge but also they help to continuously their update knowledge as being environmentalists.

In the past year, our professional standards and qualifications have been accepted and recognized by more and more enterprises, and become the basic requirements for employing environmental professionals. In 2022, we receive more and more applications from mainland engineers, including Shanghai, Chongqing and Wuxi, which proves that we are recognized by mainland engineers.

So far, over 68 associations and chambers of commerce have been organized to form a professional platform to promote youth employment and entrepreneurship in the Bay Area.

In addition, the Hong Kong Institute of Environmentalists has successfully held the Second Green Micro Film Creation Competition on the theme of low-carbon life in Hong Kong, and has designated October 28 as the Hong Kong Environmentalists’ Day. This competition has been supported by many well-known universities and more than 100 enterprises in Hong Kong, including the Chinese University of Hong Kong, City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong Baptist University, and so much more. We also invited members of the Hong Kong Legislative Council including Chairman Hon Andrew LEUNG Kwan-yuen, Hon CHAN Hak-kan, Hon Maggie CHAN Man-ki, Hon CHAN Hoi-yan, Hon Michael TIEN Puk-sun, Hon CHU Kwok-keung and Hon TANG Fei.

We will continue to develop innovative technologies to create sustainable value for the local and international community. This year, we will continue to hold professional development seminars with the Hong Kong Institute of Engineers (HKIE) and other local professional organizations to meet the continuing educational needs of our members.

At the same time, I am honored to be a member of the Guizhou Provincial Political Consultative Conference and to be elected to the field of environmental resources. I hope you will continue to support the concept of sustainable urban development and work together to create a better living environment. Finally, I wish you a happy life!
